Is there bike storage? Is it included in the fee?

Yes! We do have bike storage which is free to use.

Can I choose my room?

Yes, as long as the room is available. You can select the exact room you want when you book directly through our website or by speaking with our Lettings Team.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately pets are not allowed within House of Social accommodation. However, we do allow dogs in the food hall downstairs!

Are the rooms suitable for disabled access?

Yes, we have accessible rooms with larger bathrooms, step-free access, and adaptable features.

Can I book on my own?

Yes, you can still book an individual room.

Are utility bills included at House of Social?

Yes, all bills are included at House of Social.

Do I need to be a student to live at House of Social?

Yes. You need to be a full-time student to live at House of Social.

Do I need a guarantor to book my room?

No, you don’t need a guarantor to book a room at House of Social.

Do I need to pay for a TV licence and council tax?

If you plan to watch or record live terrestrial TV or use BBC iPlayer, you must pay for a TV Licence, which you can set up here. A TV Licence is only required if you live in the UK. Full-time students typically do not need to pay council tax in the UK. However, we may request proof of your student status during your stay to confirm your exemption.

Do you charge a deposit?

No deposit is required. However, if any damage occurs while you live in the room, you will be expected to pay for any damages caused before you check out. The Advance Licence Fee, paid at booking, is a pre-payment for the first two weeks of your contract.

Do you offer dual occupancy rooms?

Yes! If you want to live with a partner, we offer dual occupancy rooms at House of Social, with an extra charge of 20%.

If I haven’t been accepted at University yet, can I still secure a room?

Yes, you can secure a room. If your university place is declined, you can cancel free of charge, provided certain conditions are met. Refer to our detailed policy for specifics.

Is there a car park? Is it included in the fee?

Unfortunately, we do not have on-site parking at House of Social, but Q-Park Car Park is opposite. Also, all our buildings are centrally located with quick access to universities and public transport.

Is there a gym included at House of Social?

Yes, if you live at House of Social, you have access to our 24-hour fully-equipped gym – all included in your rent.

Is there a laundry room?

Yes, we have a laundry room at House of Social. Simply top up your account to start using the machines.

Is there a cleaning service and is it included in my fee?

All our houses have bi-weekly housekeeping of the communal areas so you don’t have to worry about a cleaning rota.

How long is the usual contract?

At House of Social you can choose between two contract length options: 44 weeks or 51 weeks. Booking a 51-week contract allows you to stay in the building over the summer holidays. Some of our buildings only have the option of 44 or 51 week contracts – you’ll see the options available when booking your room.

What age do I need to be to live at House of Social?

You must be 17 or older and a full-time university student in the UK to live at House of Social.

What’s included at House of Social?

As a resident at House of Social all bills are included, you have access to our 24/7 gym, bookable private dining areas, bi-weekly housekeeping of communal areas and exclusive offers in the food hall downstairs.

What are the differences in the room types?

All room types comes with an ensuite bathroom.

If you choose an Enhanced, Elite or Accessible, these rooms have their own private kitchen as well as access to the shared kitchen area. Whereas, an Essential only has access to the shared kitchen area and no private kitchen.

If you choose a Duo, these are 2-bed houses where you both have your own private kitchen, but no access to the shared kitchen area.

What happens after I book my student accommodation?

When you book at House of Social, a member of our team will be in touch within 48 hours. So if you have any questions about your booking, don’t worry – our customer engagement team will support you every step of your journey with us, from booking until the end of your stay at House of Social.
