What is House of Social?

House of Social is Manchester’s newest food hall, with room upstairs to stay. There will be a collection of five independent kitchens, serving food and drink to suit every taste and time. Above, we have 112 student houses, a mixture of 2, 5 or 6 beds. Designed for sharing, with equal, independent space for everyone.

Where’s the nearest public transport to House of Social?

House of Social is less than a 10-minute walk from both Manchester Oxford Road Station, Deansgate Train Station, and the Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop. There are also regular buses nearby for easy city exploration.

When is the food hall opening?

We’re set to open the food hall in Summer 2025. Keep up to date over on our socials.

What are the opening times for the food hall?

Our opening times will be as followed:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday–Wednesday: 8:00am – 11:00pm
Thursday–Saturday: 8:00am – 1:00am
Sunday: 8:00am – 10:00pm

Do I need to be a student to live at House of Social?

Yes. You need to be a full-time student to live at House of Social.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately pets are not allowed within House of Social accommodation. However, we do allow dogs in the food hall downstairs!

Can I choose my room?

Yes, as long as the room is available. You can select the exact room you want when you book directly through our website or by speaking with our Lettings Team.

How close is House of Social to the University of Manchester and Man Met Uni?

House of Social is just a 10-minute walk to the University of Manchester and less than 10 minutes away from Manchester Metropolitan University.

How many beds are in a house?

You can choose from a 2-bed, 5-bed or 6-bed house.

How do I book a house with my friends?

Is there discount when booking with friends?

Yes, we do offer discount when booking with your friends. The more mates, the better the price. Check out our house bookings page for more information.

What’s included at House of Social?

As a resident at House of Social all bills are included, you have access to our 24/7 gym, bookable private dining areas, bi-weekly housekeeping of communal areas and exclusive offers in the food hall downstairs.

Can I have visitors? How long can they stay?

Yes, guests can stay for up to 2 consecutive nights for free. They must be signed in at reception and accompanied by you while in the building.

How secure is my room?

Your room is very secure. Entry is controlled by key fobs, CCTV is in operation, and our on-site staff are available if you have any issues, either at reception or patrolling the building, to ensure your safety and the security of the premises.

How long is the usual contract?

At House of Social you can choose between two contract length options: 44 weeks or 51 weeks. Booking a 51-week contract allows you to stay in the building over the summer holidays. Some of our buildings only have the option of 44 or 51 week contracts – you’ll see the options available when booking your room.

Is there a car park? Is it included in the fee?

Unfortunately, we do not have on-site parking at House of Social, but Q-Park Car Park is opposite. Also, all our buildings are centrally located with quick access to universities and public transport.

Is there a gym included at House of Social?

Yes, if you live at House of Social, you have access to our 24-hour fully-equipped gym – all included in your rent.

Do I need a guarantor to book my room?

No, you don’t need a guarantor to book a room at House of Social.

What age do I need to be to live at House of Social?

You must be 17 or older and a full-time university student in the UK to live at House of Social.

What are the differences in the room types?

All room types comes with an ensuite bathroom.

If you choose an Enhanced, Elite or Accessible, these rooms have their own private kitchen as well as access to the shared kitchen area. Whereas, an Essential only has access to the shared kitchen area and no private kitchen.

If you choose a Duo, these are 2-bed houses where you both have your own private kitchen, but no access to the shared kitchen area.
